This – as always – remains particularly true in the world of sustainability. The combination of high-profile events like COP16 on biodiversity and COP29 on climate change – together with the LMA’s own Sustainable Finance Conference – highlight the importance of the finance community in shaping global ambitions and delivering a green transition. Paired with the launch of fresh regulatory consultations across the UK and Europe (and, of course, not forgetting the constant push to close deals), I think we are all ready for a well-earned rest!

Working through my own to-do list, I was delighted to see the launch of our new Draft Provisions for Green Loans on 7 November. These provisions mark a pivotal step in enhancing transparency and efficiency in the green loan market, which are critical for its continued growth, integrity and impact. By providing a standardised framework, the provisions will streamline structuring, drafting, and negotiation processes, enabling market participants to concentrate instead on the substantive impact of green projects.

Significant strides have also been made in our active projects on transition finance and updates to the Green, Social and Sustainability-Linked Loan Principles. Their anticipated launch in 2025 promises to be another milestone. It’s an exciting horizon to look forward to – one that will undoubtedly bolster momentum toward global sustainability goals.

As the year comes to a close, I would like to take this moment to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of our Sustainability Committee and to give my personal thanks. Your dedication, passion and hard work has been instrumental in driving the LMA’s sustainability-focused initiatives and will continue to do so in 2025.
